Ivan Vantagiato Electrifies Home Crowd at The Bend in Round 3
The South Australian driver — a Formula RX8 standout in 2024 — lit up his home circuit at Shell V-Power Motorsport Park in one of the year's most memorable performances.

Every racing paddock has its home round — the circuit where local knowledge, family support, and the pressure of performing in front of the people who watched you grow up either elevates or deflates. For Ivan Vantagiato, The Bend was that round. And in May 2025, he made the most of it.
The South Australian had spent 2024 making his mark in the Formula RX8 Championship, where he finished an impressive second at Winton and announced himself as a driver with genuine single-seater potential. The move to the ADC for selected 2025 rounds was the next step — and The Bend, twenty minutes from Tailem Bend in his home state, was the perfect venue for a coming-out performance.
Vantagiato showed the kind of home-circuit advantage that only comes from knowing every line, every reference point, every bump. The fast, flowing layout at The Bend rewards commitment and circuit familiarity above most other circuits on the ADC calendar — and a South Australian driver who'd watched and studied the place before he ever climbed into an ADC car had an edge worth having.
His performances through the weekend drew attention from the broader paddock. The ability to extract the maximum from an unfamiliar car at a circuit you know well is a specific skill, and Vantagiato had it. His transition from Formula RX8 to the Hyper Racer X1 — a significantly more complex machine — was smoother than anyone had right to expect.
Whether the South Australian will be part of a full-season ADC campaign in 2026 remains to be seen. But his Round 3 showing in 2025 made sure nobody in the paddock would be ignoring him when he appeared on an entry list.
